This week, I learned a lot about how to create a “professional” resume. How to make the information on my resume clear is always a big issue for me because I don’t want to take anything out. I learned that I should create more than one version of resumes so that the employer will be able to learn my information at a first glance. It’s also very helpful to learn how to write an email and cover letter. Preparing these and applying for a job is always a challenge, so I really appreciate that I got this opportunity to learn these essential skills.

Dashboard
Mark your dashboard as it currently exists.
What do you observe (and are you being fair and honest)?
I’m fair and honest and I notice that the portion of health and work has a huge difference.
If you could make one incremental adjustment, what would it be?
My first priority would be my health. It would be trying to keep everything on schedule and don’t stay overnight or skip any meals.
What steps could you take in your life to make this adjustment?
Use a planner or set multiple reminders whenever it’s time to take a break or have a meal.
Workview and Lifeview
1. Write a short reflection about your Workview (about 250 words).
- What does work mean to you? - Why do you do it? - What makes good work good?
When it comes to “work”, there is always a compromise, especially for client-based work. At my current stage, work is a thing that helps me grow up fast and know myself. As an animator, I think work is a medium for me to create and share stories with people in a visual way while having a stable income. I believe that good work must be done with genuine affection and great passion. My passion always falls exponentially when work is client-based and related to financial concern.
2. Write a short reflection about your Lifeview (about 250 words).
- What makes life worthwhile or valuable? - How does your life relate to others in your family, community, world? - What does money, fame, and personal accomplishments have to do with a satisfying life?
I think nothing makes life worthwhile or valuable. It sort of sounds despondent, but I’m always yearning for a life without any desire or anything. However, I still believe that desire is what makes a person valuable. Desire makes life nonstop and lets people constantly aiming for something. My life forms a sense of belonging with my family and adds a variety to this community. In terms of the world, it’s like a fairy tale and my life is the hidden message in it, as the core. Money, fame, and personal accomplishments are all substances to satisfy a person’s desire.
3. Review your Lifeview and Workview and answer each of these questions:
- Where do your views on work and life complement one another? - Where do they clash? - Does one drive the other? How?
Undoubtedly, work and life affect each other and the balance between them is a hard lesson. I’m a person who likes to separate work and life, including working time or working place. In other words, I always work overtime but once I step away from my work, I’ll shut down my brain and empty my mind for anything related to work. Since my work requires me to come up with new project ideas every day, my life complements my work when I’m collecting inspirations in life. However, they clash with one other when I’m working overtime or even overnight.

First of all, I enjoyed listening to every classmate sharing about their introduction. It’s great to learn that everyone in this class is so unique and talented. During the class, I’m actually surprised about we are putting attention on mental health. As a senior, I think it’s essential to take a break from making a resume or applying for jobs. Instead, we should spend more time on understanding ourselves and making life and work coherently.

2 Min Story
My name is Kasper and I am a New York-based artist. Growing up in a childhood occupied with art and dance classes, I didn’t have much time to build a connection with other children. My only friends were those stuff animals who I share half the size of my bed with, regardless of how crowded the bed was. They are undoubtedly the most indispensable partners in my life, either while I’m exploring the unknown of this cold world or confronting doubts and fears. We have countless stories to share and this is where my unrealistic ideas born, They let me endowed with a unique vision and courage in creating art.
I pursued Integrated Digital Media for my bachelor’s from New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering to study how to tell a story through the integration of multimedia art and emerging technologies. My work bridges the gap between the human beings’ world and the stuff animals’ through Animation and illustration. I design virtual reality games ad build interactive physical installations to remind people of their pure and childish consciousness.

In the first day of class. I got the general idea of what this class is designed for. I really appreciate that we got this chance to get everything prepared for applying and pursuing a job. The most valuable thing is leaning how to let the recruiter see my value in a very short of time and how to present our creative work.
